Gov. Rick Scott Highlights “Make Washington Work” Plan in Riviera Beach
RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. – At Riviera Beach manufacturer RGF Environmental Group Inc., Governor Rick Scott today highlighted the second proposal of his “Make Washington Work” Plan to require a supermajority vote of two-thirds of each house of Congress to approve any tax or fee increase before it can become law. Just like Governor Scott has championed this year in Florida, this proposal will help ensure Congress rightfully treats tax and fee increases as an absolute last resort, not as a knee-jerk reaction to fund government waste.
While Governor Scott has championed cutting taxes nearly 100 times over the past seven and a half years, as a U.S. Senator, Bill Nelson has voted in favor of higher taxes and fees more than 300 times.
The Governor’s “Make Washington Work” Plan will be aimed squarely at reforming the dysfunctional and tired ways of thinking in Washington in order to make it actually work for families across the nation – not just for career politicians in DC. Governor Scott previously announced his first proposal of his “Make Washington Work” Plan to require term limits in Congress.
