14 Sep Scott for Florida Releases TV and Digital Ad: “Nothing”
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Rick Scott for Florida campaign released its latest television and digital ad, “Nothing” – which is what Senator Nelson has accomplished for Lake Okeechobee and the surrounding communities while in Washington. Despite making election-year promises to fight for Lake Okeechobee in campaign ads thirty years ago, Senator Nelson has clearly failed.
Governor Scott, however, has taken real action and secured the following results for communities surrounding Lake Okeechobee:
- Signed legislation to accelerate the EAA reservoir, which will store more water south of Lake Okeechobee (this project continues to await Congressional approval);
- Championed $100 million in state funding to jump start repairs to the Herbert Hoover Dike;
- Received a commitment from the president’s administration to speed up repairs; and
- Secured funding through the Army Corps of Engineers with a plan to complete this project by the Governor’s goal of 2022.

Let’s go back in time to 1990.
Bill Nelson looked younger but he was saying the same thing.
Bill Nelson: “I will fight to stop the poisoning of lakes and streams across this state. Lake Okeechobee is dying because of the massive dumping of pollutants.”
But Bill Nelson failed.
He couldn’t get anything done for Lake O in Washington.
Bill Nelson: “Cleaning up our environment…”
Bill Nelson – he’s all talk, no action.
Year after year, after year, after year.
