Gov. Scott Statement on Protecting Individuals with Pre-Existing Health Conditions

Common Sense Isn’t Something You’re Likely to See with Career Politicians Like Senator Nelson in Washington

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott released the following statement regarding his support of protecting individuals with pre-existing health conditions. To see the Governor’s recent ad on this, click HERE.

Governor Scott said, “I have always supported protecting people with pre-existing conditions. For Senator Nelson and his boss Chuck Schumer to say otherwise isn’t just deceptive, it’s completely made up. However, the government-takeover of healthcare has truly become the Unaffordable Care Act. There were a few good things in this 1,000-page bill – specifically, protecting individuals with pre-existing conditions and allowing parents to keep their children on their health insurance longer. That could have been done with a two-page bill, but common sense isn’t something you’re likely to see with all the career politicians like Senator Nelson in Washington. In his over four decades in office, Senator Nelson never fought for these changes as a Senator, Congressman, State Representative OR as Florida’s INSURANCE Commissioner.

“I fought to protect pre-existing conditions when I traveled to Washington last year for healthcare reforms and it’s something I will continue to fight for. At the same time, I will also continue to fight to replace the Unaffordable Care Act with a plan that actually provides affordable and quality health care for our families.”
